Welcome to Pidgley Sporting
Game shooting should be enjoyable, welcoming, and good value. We make it simple for groups of guns — whether new to the sport or highly experienced — to enjoy smaller, relaxed days without sacrificing quality. Always with respect for the countryside, the quarry, and the traditions that make shooting so special
For New Shooters
Everyone remembers their first time in the field. For many, it can feel exciting but also a little daunting — what to wear, how the day runs, even how to stand safely with a gun in hand. We’re here to take all that worry away
From the moment you contact us, we’ll guide you step by step: what to expect, what you’ll need, and how to prepare. On the day itself, we’ll make sure you feel comfortable, confident, and supported. A representative from Pidgley Sporting will always be present to oversee the day, answer questions, and ensure everything runs smoothly
For those new to shooting, a shotgun licence is not required when taking part in our arranged shoots on private farms and estates, as you’ll be under the supervision of experienced licence holders. We can also arrange the loan of a shotgun, so you can enjoy the day without needing your own gun. And when you’re ready to apply for your own licence and purchase a gun, we’ll be on hand with advice to guide you through the process
You’ll have clear guidance on safety and etiquette, but also plenty of encouragement to simply relax and enjoy the experience. If you’d like, we can provide a loader — someone at your side to help with cartridges, offer reassurance, and allow you to focus fully on enjoying your first day in the field
Game shooting is about more than pulling the trigger — it’s about fresh air, friendship, and respect for the countryside. By the end of the day, you won’t just have had a great time; you’ll have learned the traditions and responsibilities that make shooting so special

Shooting for Women
We’re proud to be helping build a culture where women feel truly at home in the field. Too often in the past, shooting could feel male-dominated, with few opportunities for women to feel supported or fully included. We’re here to change that
Whether you’re joining a mixed line or planning an all-female day, we’ll ensure the experience is welcoming, relaxed, and fun. For newcomers, we provide guidance on everything from what to wear to the traditions of the sport, so you can feel confident from the first shot. For experienced guns, we offer the same high-quality sport and camaraderie — in an environment where women are respected and encouraged at every level
On every day, a Pidgley Sporting representative will be on hand to guide, answer questions, and keep everything running smoothly. Loaders can also be arranged, giving new guns confidence or allowing experienced shots to focus purely on the sport and enjoy their day to the fullest
All-female days are a chance to shoot in a truly supportive atmosphere, where friendship, laughter, and encouragement are just as important as the birds in the sky. It’s shooting at its best: inclusive, enjoyable, and run in the right spirit
For Experienced Guns
If you’ve shot before, you’ll know what makes a day worthwhile: well-run drives, sensible bag sizes, and the camaraderie that comes from shooting in good company. That’s exactly what we deliver
We may specialise in smaller, more informal days, but we never compromise on quality. You’ll find birds that fly well, a relaxed yet organised atmosphere, and the opportunity to enjoy your sport without the high costs that often come with grander shoots
We recognise the place of the great traditional estate shoot — steeped in history and run to the highest standards. They remain a vital part of our sport, and long may they continue. What we offer is not a replacement, but an alternative: smaller, more affordable days that deliver quality shooting and camaraderie in a relaxed, approachable way — whether on a smaller farm shoot or a grand estate, just without the added extras that can significantly increase the cost
We can, of course, provide loaders for those who prefer them — whether to help a less experienced member of your party feel comfortable or simply to allow you to concentrate fully on the sport. And as always, a Pidgley Sporting representative will be on hand to ensure everything runs smoothly

Why Choose Us
We’ve built Pidgley Sporting around one simple idea: that shooting should be open, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone. Whether you’re stepping into the field for the very first time, or you’ve been shooting for years, we make sure the day feels right for you
For newcomers, that means patient support, clear guidance, and the reassurance that someone will be with you at every step. For experienced guns, it’s about delivering the high-quality sport you expect at a fair price — without unnecessary formality or inflated costs
We’re also proud to be championing a more inclusive culture, where women feel as welcome and respected as anyone else. Our days are relaxed, friendly, and private to your group — so you can focus on enjoying yourself in good company
Above all, we shoot with respect: for the land we stand on, for the quarry we pursue, and for the traditions that make game shooting such a special part of countryside life
Your Day, Your Way
No two shooters are the same, and no two days in the field should feel the same either. That’s why we shape every day around the people taking part. Whether it’s your very first outing or your fiftieth, you’ll find encouragement, support, and a standard of sport that feels just right
We’ll make sure the details match your needs — from location and budget to the right balance of drives and bag size. With a Pidgley Sporting representative always on hand, you’ll never feel left to figure things out alone. Loaders can be arranged too, whether to give new shooters confidence or to help experienced guns get the most enjoyment from their day
For us, it’s not about numbers on a game card. It’s about time spent outdoors with friends, the thrill of the birds, and the satisfaction of a day enjoyed responsibly, respectfully, and together

Our Story
We started Pidgley Sporting because we knew the shooting world could feel intimidating from the outside. Too often it seemed closed, confusing, or unwelcoming — especially for those who didn’t already know the traditions or the “rules.”
One of us is a man who remembers all too well the nerves of his first shoot — eager to take up game shooting but struggling to find simple, honest advice about how to prepare, what to wear, how to behave, or even how to relax and enjoy the day
The other is a woman who had shot before but often found herself in a male-dominated environment, where female guns were rare and all-female days were almost unheard of. The sense of being an outsider was real, even when the sport itself was enjoyable
Together, we wanted to change that. We wanted to create something more welcoming, more approachable, and more inclusive. A place where newcomers felt supported, women felt fully part of the day, and experienced guns found quality sport at a fair price. That’s how Pidgley Sporting was born
Our Vision
At Pidgley Sporting, we believe game shooting should be open to more people — not hidden behind barriers of cost, tradition, or culture. We want to protect what’s best about the sport, while making it feel relevant and welcoming in today’s world
For newcomers, that means clear guidance and a supportive atmosphere, where you can learn with confidence and enjoy yourself from the start. For experienced guns, it means offering days that deliver real quality and value, without the need for grand estates or excessive costs
For women, it means creating a culture where you feel every bit as welcome and respected as anyone else — whether in mixed groups or in all-female days designed to be supportive and fun
And for everyone, it means shooting that is always respectful: of the countryside we walk, of the quarry we pursue, and of the traditions that make this sport so unique. Shooting at its best is about friendship, enjoyment, and a sense of belonging — and that is the vision we’re here to deliver

What We Offer
Our shoots are private, more budget-conscious, and relaxed — but never at the expense of quality. You’ll enjoy smaller days that focus on camaraderie, smartly run drives, and memorable sport in beautiful countryside
We guide new shooters every step of the way, ensure experienced guns feel the sport is well worth their time, and create an environment where women feel as much a part of the day as anyone else
At the heart of every day is respect: for the land we stand on, for the birds in the sky, and for the traditions that make game shooting so unique
Through our network of contacts — including some of the most prestigious estates in the UK and abroad — we can also arrange larger, higher-budget days when required. But our focus is on providing a genuine alternative: shoots that are smaller, more accessible, and designed to maintain the quality and respect that define the sport
How It Works
We like to keep things simple. When you get in touch, we’ll ask a few questions to understand what you’re looking for:
Experience level
Preferred dates
Location, or how far you’re happy to travel
Budget
Size of your group and number of guns
Any special requirements
Once we have this information, we’ll check availability and recommend the right options for you
On the day itself, a Pidgley Sporting representative will be there throughout, ensuring everything runs smoothly and everyone feels supported. Loaders can be arranged if required — whether for reassurance and guidance, or simply to make the day that bit more enjoyable
If you’re new to shooting, we’ll guide you through everything — from what to wear and how the day runs, to safety, etiquette, and what to expect in the field. If you’re more experienced, we’ll focus on matching you with quality sport at the right price
Either way, our goal is the same: to take the stress out of planning and deliver a day you’ll remember for all the right reasons

Ethical Shooting and Conservation
At Pidgley Sporting, we believe shooting should always be carried out with care, respect, and responsibility. Ethical shooting isn’t just about how we take a shot — it’s about how we look after the land, the wildlife, and the wider countryside that make our sport possible
Well-managed shoots play a vital role in conservation. Gamekeepers and shoot organisers maintain habitats that support not only gamebirds but countless other species of birds, insects, and mammals. Hedgerows are preserved, woodland is maintained, and cover crops are planted — all providing essential food and shelter for wildlife throughout the year
Field sports also make a significant contribution to the rural economy. They help sustain jobs in farming, hospitality, and conservation, and provide income that keeps countryside communities thriving. From local beaters and loaders to small businesses and country estates, shooting supports livelihoods across the UK
We’re proud to play our part in that positive cycle — promoting ethical, responsible days in the field where respect for the quarry and the environment comes first. Our shoots are run in accordance with best practice and the Code of Good Shooting Conduct, ensuring that every day in the field upholds the highest standards of sportsmanship and sustainability
For us, shooting done well is conservation in action: thoughtful, respectful, and deeply connected to the land
